Alysia Garmulewicz is passionate about youth leading the challenge of mitigating climate change, and designing a sustainable future. She inspires action through keynote presentations and workshops at schools and youth conferences across Canada. Topics include how youth can design a sustainable future through cutting-edge career paths, action project development, and climate change leadership.
From her hometown of New Denver, BC, she founded Changing Climates Educational Society and organized the 2005 Canadian Youth Climate Change Conference, attracting youth and adult leaders from across Canada. Alysia also represented youth on the official Canadian Delegation at the 2005 Montreal United Nations Climate Change Conference. Presently, Alysia is organizing the conference Designing our Future: Careers for Sustainability, aimed for the summer of 2009. She is also completing an undergraduate degree from Carleton University on Climate Change and Sustianability.
Alysia was a finalist in CBC’s 2007 Next Great Prime Minister competition. She has been awarded a 2006 Canadian Environment Award, the TD Canada Trust Scholarship for outstanding community leadership, the Toyota Earth Day scholarship national award, and has been recognized as one of the Top 20 Under 20 youth in Canada.
